I just finished a web site with my partner. http://www.freemoneylessons.com. I currently posted some fliers at the local gym and created a mini article and posted them at newspaper stands and magazines at the service waiting area in car dealerships.

Eliminate Adwords CTR Penalties

Eliminate CTR penalties using Adwords placement campaigns. A placement campaign allows you to specify which websites will display your ad. This gives you an opportunity to improve the quality of content network traffic.
Assuming you are familiar with the proposed Adwords strategy, you’ll recall that the key to getting low cost per clicks with Adwords is relevance. Relevance is determined by two means. First Adwords checks your keyword, ad and landing page to assign a quality score. The guide discussed in detail how to get a good or great initial quality score.
Second, Google reevaluates the relevance and quality score using the Click Through Rate or CTR. Adwords will assume that your landing page is relevant if consumers click on your ads. So, the more consumers that click on your ads, the higher the quality score you receive. On the other hand, if you have many impressions but a low CTR Adwords will penalize you and lower the quality score. The process is very much like Darwin’s natural selection where strong ads are rewarded and weak ads penalized. A half percent CTR is required for maintaining a good quality score. A half percent CTR means one click per every 200 impressions.
There are a few options for an ad that has stopped showing due to a poor CTR.
1) Delete the keyword and ad. Generally this is a good idea because it will keep the poor performing ad from dragging down the entire campaign CTR.
2) Rewrite the sales copy to make it more compelling and increase the CTR. Your ad must still be showing for this to work.
3) Pay a higher cost per click to have the ad appear again.
There is an alternative to the keyword driven campaign that eliminates relevance, the CTR reevaluation and just about any other Adwords penalty you can think of. It’s an Adwords placement campaign where you pay per impression. Adwords does not charge you per click. Instead you pay per impression or CPM, which is the number of times your ad is shown.
An Adwords pay per impression campaign doesn’t need to track relevance, quality score or CTR. Adwords doesn’t care how your ad performs. You will be paying for impressions, not performance. Adwords has shifted the burden of monitoring the performance to you.
You have to track your performance. You don’t want to pay for thousands impressions of an ad that doesn’t generate clicks. You must be sure you have a compelling ad that generates clicks.
In addition, you can choose which websites will display your ad. This allows you to target a specific audience and market. Generally speaking the content network traffic in Adwords is the lowest quality traffic. This is traffic that doesn’t convert well after it has come to your landing page. The content network is Adsense publishers, so you have websites trying to get ad clicks by any means necessary, which results in lower quality traffic than Google Search traffic.
But with the pay per impression campaign, you can specify which websites to advertise on. For example, you can advertise on About,com, which is owned by the New York Times. You can be assured that the Adsense tactics used on About.com will lead to higher quality traffic.
Pay per impression is a viable alternative for getting into a competitive market. If you find that regular Adwords campaign is too competitive, try a placement targeted campaign, either CPM as discussed or a CPC campaign. Again, make sure you have a compelling ad first.

Future Relevancy Or Page Rank

With all the talk about search engines and relevancy, I came up with some interesting thoughts that I wanted share about where I believe the search engines are heading concerning basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Trying to stay ahead of the search engines, which is nearly impossible, I’ve been trying to look to the future of SEO while creating web pages following the guidelines of the major search engines.
One of the largest problems the major search engines are dealing with is Search Engine Spam, Adsense Spam, and “Spammy Pages” such as keyword stuffing to gain higher rankings. In guidelines from Google, they mention write your pages for the users, not for the search engines. This statement alone, is a little prediction of the future of what is coming. And in order to stay ahead of the curve with some long term planning, I am suggesting we should take this to heart, and stop using the older SEO methods that eventually will hurt us.
Websites are being currently being penalized and dropped from years of top rankings for not adapting to the search engines guidelines and continuing to use SEO methods of years ago.
In thinking in terms of long-term success to maintain high rankings for each of the major search engines, through about as much research as you do online, I have came up with a few guidelines to the basic SEO ideas for the future.
One of the most important aspect for the search engines, and what I have seen and predict will have more importance is website copywriting. We’ll this is nothing new, we all know website copywriting is important, may as high at 45% of our copywriting contributes to our page rank. This will always remain important, and I believe will become even more important to high as 85% of what our website says will contribute to our page ranking in the future, as a shift from the search engine giving higher ranking from a technical aspect to more of a informational or relevancy aspect.
Eliminating some of the currently used technical aspects may maintain higher ranking in the coming future. Let me explain some of the commonly abused technical SEO habits currently, that I believe is headed toward extinction.
a. Keyword Meta tags. This tag alone is open to elimination due to the common abuse methods such as keyword stuffing. Most major search engines generally ignore this tagline currently.
b. ALT tags are another tagline that is just in the beginning stages of being eliminated. Some search engines have been experimenting with ignoring ALT tags and have found out that pages indexed without ALT tags are returning higher relevancy results. Again like the Meta tags, ALT tags have been abused to such from as keyword stuff.
c. The two Meta tags that will gain in importance will be the Title tag and Description tag. A title and description taglines accurately representing a well written website copy write will enhance your page’s relevancy.
I am not suggesting that today that we immediately stop using the successful technical SEO currently in place, but the gradual elimination of this technique as the search engines stop using each method. Personally, I no longer include the Keyword Meta taglines on my web pages, and will continue to remove useless html as that become irrelevant.
In summary, my opinion is that future SEO standards will be more focused on good copywriting and less on technical aspects such as Meta taglines, Alt taglines, Headings to gain a higher page rank, or should I say higher relevancy.

And online success can be achieved by anyone, provided they have the motivation and drive and can visualise the end goal – high quality visitor traffic – clearly enough. 2. The vision thing: You need a vision. That vision of visitor traffic is what you cling to, for dear life, when a particular project or program is proving particularly difficult. Your vision describes the landscape you navigate. It’s bold, it’s optimistic, it may even – in a small way – be pioneering. Daydreams of those Clickbank sales, or PayPal receipts – bring them on!

I’ve never forgotten the impact of being told by a towering figure in the web traffic industry, “You’ve got to develop a completely different approach to money if you’re committed to success on the web. There is SO MUCH to be made.”
5. Set Realistic Goals: A consistent and single-minded approach to reaching short-term goals is often a more reliable way of achieving long term success than aiming for a one-off “big hit”. In other words, make your goal to just do everything a little better every time. The improvement is the goal. The visitor traffic (and subsequent sales) is simply the reward for achieving that goal.
6. Listen To What Is Being Said: on forums, in emails, on message boards. That’s where the buzz is. That’s where you can gain further insights into where your potential visitors are.
7. Don’t Be Afraid To Switch Off: You NEED periods of rest to allow new information to bed down, and fresh ideas and perspectives to surface. There are numerous examples of people making new discoveries when they were relaxing or taking a break from the very thing they had been focussing on.
8. Live A Balanced Life: You know, focusing on one thing at the expense of all others will result in a loss of balance. It’s possible to become so absorbed in a task that the overall life balance is forfeit. Web marketing, if taken to extremes, can have a detrimental effect on personal well being and relationships as well. Your marriage matters. Your children matter. YOU matter.
9. Expect The Unexpected: In every scenario it is wise to assume that the unexpected will happen. Human error tends to be the norm.
