Guide to get best SEO results
How to Use Adwords and Adsense
Google Adwords is the best way to get traffic to your website and to your products or your ads. Just remember there is a little bit of a learning curve but most people give up because they begin to view it as a money hole and nothing could be further from the truth!
I work for a company that does arrangements of fruit as centerpieces for social events and when I joined the company my employer was paying $3,400 a month for her ads because she had no idea that she didn’t have a streamlined ad campaign. I reorganized her campaigns and tried a few until we found one that minimized her overhead and maximized her bottom line. (as well as getting me a good sized bonus for my trouble and some job security!)
If you are truly serious about wanting to make Google work hard for your hard earned money I recommend getting to know Adwords better. There is an amazing volume of books and guides that people have written in order help people navigate through Adwords, unfortunately most of them aren’t up to par.
Just remember to start off small maybe $80-$130 to start your first ad campaign ESPECIALLY if you don’t have a developed online market yet. Don’t make the mistake of trying to grow too fast, I made that mistake and it cost me $13,564.54 which for me was about 3.5 months worth of revenue from my personal site! Allow yourself to grow at a healthy rate or you’ll end up regretting it like I did.
Try a new ad campaign each month and keep track of how much business you receive because of it. Then pick the most profitable one and use it. Just increase the amount of money that you’re pouring into Adwords as your business grows. Remember that you can control the rate of that growth by the amount of money you give to Google based on your own analysis of your sales growth! Stay aware of your growth and make sure that you can accommodate it believe me it’ll pay off in the long run.
Adwords is a an odd thing to get used to when you’re first starting out so I would recommend getting an e-book or guide and reading over them before you even consider starting since a botched campaign will hit you square in the pocket book!
I’ve read several different publications (digital and print) that have helped me learn to use Adwords and this one: Robert Hanson’s “Adwords in Detail” covers a lot of things that other books miss. It is a 64 page step-by-step walkthrough and at the time of writing this article was available online as a download for $9.95.
Another good way to make money for your website and to help offset your advertising costs is by using the other end of Google’s marketing: Adsense. It is similar to Adwords with one exception, instead of you paying Google, Google pays you!
Adsense is a powerful tool for making money off of your web content and providing similar products to your own as well as giving you the option to block your competitors’ ads.
Adsense is targeted ads, which means that Google looks at your website, finds keywords, and places ads that are related to your site. I.e.: if your site talks about skateboarding culture then the ads that show up on your site are for skateboard parts.
A great resource for Adsense is Dee Harper’s “Adsense: The Dollar Producing Factory” which was available for online download for $17.00
I’ve looked at his book and it covers all the bases when it comes to Adsense. It’s an all inclusive guide to how to use Adsense and will help you fine tune the ads on your site to maximize profit. A well balanced combination of Adwords and Adsense will do your website a world of good but most of all it’ll do your pocket book a world a good which is what matters at the end of the day!
