The definition of Webpage design may vary since it covers a wide array of tasks. The most basic definition of Web design is the collective task of conceptualizing, planning, forming, and executing the blueprint of Web page or Website. Web design includes the information and user interface design but not programming. The end product would be web content that is ready to be displayed by an internet browser or a web based graphical user interface; commonly known as GUIs.
The primary objective in web design is to create a web page or website that exhibits content in the form of web pages to the viewers. Content would include interfaces and interactive features. Tables, forms, text, and bit mapped images like GIFs, PNG, and JPEG, can be fixed and displayed on a webpage using HML tags, HTML, or XHTML.
Other forms of more complex media like animations, sound, video, and vector graphics, entail the use of plug-ins like QuickTime, Flash, and Java for example. A Plug-in is fixed onto a web page via HTML or XHTML tags.
New aspects to Web design are continually being added because of the speedy development of the Internet. Use of XML and XHYML combined with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to arrange and control web page content is now more prevalent since many browsers were improved to accommodate W3C standards. The newest standards and proposals are in the endeavor of letting users manage a wide range of media and accessibility options without the use of plug-ins.
Web pages are categorized as dynamic or static. Static web pages do not vary contents and layouts unless a person, called a web master or a programmer, manually configures the values on the pages. On the other hand, Dynamic web pages transform contents and appearance to adapt or respond to the end user’s actions or to the changes in the environment; time, user, database adjustments, etc.
Client side script languages such as Jscript, JavaScript, Action Script, different media players, PDF plug-ins, and others, are used to change content from the client’s side or from the end user’s computer. Server side scripting languages such as ASP, PHP, Coldfusion, Perl, JSP, Python, and more, are use to store and compile dynamic webpage content. Both client side and server side scripts are used in complex pages.
The increasing number of people specializing in the fields of communication design and information technology may lead to categorizing web design as specifically managing web pages alone. Web development will have an inclination to mean overall organization of all web based services.

A website is composed of web pages that are comprised of data for end users. Data is in the form of text, sound, and images. After each web page is created, they are linked to each other to form a web site that can be published for public viewing over the internet. Web design is concerned with the very first step in creating a single web page to build a web site.

SEO: Backlinks (RQR Basics)
Sep 10th
RichQuickReview.com This video covers some basic information about one of the most important search engine optimization practices: link-building. I go through the three factors that matter when it comes to backlinks: 1. The amount of backlinks 2. The value of those backlinks 3. And the anchor text of the backlinks Each of these factors plays an important part in how Google determines where to rank your website in the search results. One of the problems with link building, is that any link you create yourself is less valuable than a link created by someone else. Obviously, someone else endorsing your website with link is better than you endorsing your own website with a link. Search engine spiders can sometimes determine whether link was built by you or not, but not always. They do pay attention to whether a link profile looks natural or not. So, if you are just using a link spamming bot that creates identical looking backlinks in identical looking places, the search engines will notice this and de-value of those links. Additionally to the number of backlinks, the value of those backlinks and the anchor text of the backlinks, a certain amount of ranomization is very important to make your link profile look natural.
The Basics of Using Google Adwords
Aug 23rd
Are you one of the people who’ve heard all of the hype about Google Adwords and you still don’t know exactly what they are? Don’t worry…you’re not alone. Many people are still yet to take advantage of the marketing phenomenon that is Google Adwords. It’s not too late to get involved and make them work for you.
What is Google Adwords? Also known as pay-per-click advertising, Adwords is a revolutionary form of marketing that drives traffic to your website. If you’ve ever used Google (and who hasn’t?) then you’ve seen Adwords. Whenever you do a search, the results that come up on the side of the page are advertisements. Business owners have set it up that their ad comes up on the side.
So why is Google Adwords better than traditional forms of marketing? It’s customizable to your budget and needs. The traffic is highly targeted. You pick which keywords that your ad will display for. When someone types that word into Google, your ad will appear. This eliminates people who don’t want what you have to offer. You also only pay when someone clicks on your ad. This means that they must take action to get to your site, also indicating that they are potential customers. You can also change your daily budget so that it won’t go over a certain level. You can start out with $5 per day or $100,000 per day. It truly is a marketing program for everyone.
What can you use Adwords for? There are many different successful applications. Regardless of whether you sell books, cameras, puzzles, or anything, Adwords can get you the traffic that you need. The best part is that it is highly targeted traffic. Let’s compare it to a traditional form of marketing. Say that you paid someone to put up a billboard for your company. You pay them a monthly fee regardless of what happens. 50,000 people per day might drive by and never call you or anything. On the other hand, if you do the same thing with Adwords, you wouldn’t pay a dime. If no one clicks on your ad, you’re not responsible for any costs. Then when someone does click on your ad, they’re usually curious about buying. This will benefit you with a high conversion rate and more money in your pocket.
If you’ve got a website or a product, one of the first things you should do is get a Google Adwords account. It’s free to set up and only takes a few minutes of your time. The time that you invest will be paid back to you tenfold. Imagine driving hundreds or thousands of highly targeted visitors to your product’s webpage every single day. Don’t you think that at least a few of them are going to want what you have to offer? If they don’t, you might want to try a new product.
If you’d like to get all your Google ads for free, and easily drive targeted, ready to buy traffic to your website, simply visit www.NeverPayGoogle.com

The Basics of Search Engine Optimization (seo) and Search Engine Marketing (sem) and What Each Does
Jun 22nd
The basics of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and Search Engine Optimization (SEM) and what each does.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of using different strategies to improve the level of a web site’s ranking position in a search engine when a user searches for information using keywords or phrases. Some strategies used in SEO of a web site are keyword or phrase research, the creation of proper Meta Tags, good page content, link building, and even usability. The purpose of SEO is to optimize the web site in order to give it a high ranking position in the search engines.
Proper SEO techniques are what gives the web site a ranking position in the different search engines according to the keywords or phrases the web site has been optimized for.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is the process of using tools such as a Pay Per Click (PPC) Campaign to bid on target keywords or phrases in the attempt to drive web traffic to the web site. In other words, rather than optimize a web site for search engines, the web site is being marketed through the search engines with the use of paid keywords or phrases in an effort to maximize more exposure of the web site to users on the Internet. The purpose of SEM is to market the website through the different search engines, and drive traffic to the web site.
Like SEO, keywords or phrases need to be researched while using SEM techniques. Using keywords or phrases that are not popular and effective will not give the desired results from either SEO and SEM techniques.
Keywords or phrases are words that users put into search engines in order to find the web site and information they are looking for. It is recommended to create three word keyword phrases, research which of these phrases are most popular and effective for the web site, and optimize the web site to these keyword phrases. It is also important to monitor the keyword phrases to see which keyword phrases are effective and ineffective to the optimization and marketing of a web site. The list of keyword phrases will change due to ineffectiveness, popularity, and other outside factors.
Pay Per Click (PPC) Marketing is an advertising method that allows you to buy search engine placement by bidding on keywords or phrases. These advertisements are usually displayed on the right hand side of the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Another form of PPC is that you pay for an actual SERP ranking, and you may also pay a pay-per click fee which means the more you pay, the higher in the search engine results page you will be displayed. These types of advertisements are usually displayed right on top of the search engine results page before the number 1 ranking web site.
It is important to remember that all search engines make a distinction between SEM techniques such as PPC and SEO techniques. SEM techniques such as PPC do not help your search engine ranking positions. Only SEO techniques such as properly Meta Tagging your web site, proper keyword placement, and the quality of content on your web site will help with your search engine ranking positions. SEM techniques such as PPC is a search engine marketing strategy.
Both SEO and SEM techniques have the goals to make a web site more visible to the users on the Internet and drive traffic to a web site. Neither SEO or SEM guarantee that you will generate sales through the use of one or the combination of both. This would fall under such things as Web Site Usability. For example, you have 100 visitors come to your web site, and you don’t make a single sale from one. This is not an SEO or SEM issue, rather there is something on the web site causing no sales. Web site usability and functionality of the web site needs to be looked into on why people are visiting the web site but not buying the services or products. This would be the same as 100 people walking into your business and walking right back out the front doors. What is causing them to leave?
Search Engine Optimization is for optimizing a web site with the goal of gaining a high ranking position within different search engines, while Search Engine Marketing is for marketing a web site through search engines with such tools as a Pay Per Click Campaign.
Both Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing require continual work in order to provide the best results for a web site. It is important to remember that these results will sometimes take time; up to 3 months is not uncommon.
In conclusion, using proper Search Engine Optimization techniques will help a web site’s ranking position in search engines, and generate visitors to a web site over time. While Search Engine Marketing techniques will not help a web site’s ranking position in search engines, it will generate more traffic to the web site faster than Search Engine Optimization techniques.
Combining both Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing techniques will help with the web site’s ranking positions in search engines and draw more traffic to the web site with the goal of converting the visitors in sales.

Time To Learn The Basics Of Video Marketing
Jun 21st
One of the latest forms of online advertising, video marketing has emerged as a great way for businesses to brand their name and website. Through video, businesses are able to embark on marketing campaigns that drive large amounts of customer traffic to their websites.
Although video content is incredibly popular throughout the Internet, the benefits of the tool have not yet been fully recognized by most businesses. Because of this, the few who dare to take the step into the world of video marketing are having greater results because there is so much demand for the content but not enough supply.
In order to makes sure that you’re getting the most benefits from your efforts online, you need to have the greatest possible conversion rate on your web pages. Internet browsers have incredibly short attention spans and are very unlikely to stay on a page for more than a minute. Videos grab their attention and force them to stay put and keep them interested in your site and business. Because videos require incredibly small amounts of effort on a customers part, they’re more likely to watch the entire thing through than they would be to read a page worth of content.
Videos can contain a number of different kinds of content that relates to your business, products or services offered. One way to incorporate video marketing is through web tutorials, introductions or demonstrations. Introductions create a bond with your customers and allow them to put a face or picture with your business. Demonstrations or tutorials are beneficial because they allow your customers to view your products and/or services first hand.
Branding allows you to position your website in the mind of visitors and helps ensure that they remember your businesses name. Great branding means that, when a consumer is seeking out a service that they associate with your name and website, they’ll return to the site to seek your service rather than the services of another business.
Video marketing is a great way to brand your site because the video can be located on several other pages throughout the Internet but will still refer consumers back to your site. Incorporate your businesses logo and name on all video streams to achieve maximum exposure.
Internet surfers are always looking to view new video content and, with the appearance of new sites such as YouTube, it’s more possible than ever for companies to place their videos on high traffic sites where consumers will see them. Branding video streams allows customers to become familiar with your business and service and captures their attention more than written content. Because the benefits of video marketing are not yet fully recognized, the companies that are brave enough to venture into new marketing territory are reaping all the benefits of this great technology. Video marketing can bring your business to the next level and, though the results may not come right away, more success will be seen in the future.

Some Adwords Basics for Beginners
Jun 16th
Google’s Adwords is still the yardstick by which other search advertising platforms measure themselves. This isn’t merely an industry observation, but a respectful sentiment that I share now, having learned the ins and outs of Adwords first hand. At ICMediaDirect.com I use this experience to give clients advice that saves them money.
No two advertising campaigns are alike, so naturally each one requires its own strategy. But there are general suggestions that a first time Adwords user should heed. What I have are a few tips aimed at saving the new advertiser money. Just because I learned a few of them the hard way doesn’t mean you should have to: caution and patience are key virtues for an Adwords novice. Incidentally, since Google announced new localized features for Adwords, I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of new users in upcoming months.
Do not assume that the popularity of Adwords stems from a gentle or forgiving platform. You’ve got to watch your ads with the same eye you’d use to watch your chips in a game of Texas Hold’Em. Carelessness in Adwords will cost you as quickly and dearly as it would in poker.
It’s crucial to economize your campaign. Competition from other advertisers within the Adwords space has made it more expensive to use. Bigger advertisers, like an eBay for instance, can be particularly daunting in the way they throw money around. You can’t compete with them, so as you craft a detailed plan, you should manage your budget closely, as every penny counts.
Remember to:
1) Deploy a negative keyword strategy -
I cannot stress this enough. As an advertiser you have almost no control over where your ad goes, but you have the option to keep it from going where it won’t work! The negative keyword function essentially blocks your ads from being shown with search results you feel are not likely to generate business. In other words, it keeps your ads from being exposed to people looking for something else. Clicks from unwanted showings means wasted expense.
2) Stick to a daily budget -
Online advertising offers us unprecedented measurability. We know how many people have seen our ads. But, like in any new endeavor, we should still proceed carefully until we are sure of ourselves. We must apportion daily budgets.
You could lose your shirt on Adwords if you don’t set some limits. Sometimes advertisers are too gung-ho and let expenditures grow with the faith that clicks equals sales growth. There are no guarantees that the advertising will work or that you’re doing it correctly from the get-go. Remember, if clicks are ineffective – you do not get your money back, nor should you. Start slow, learn the ropes, and then prosper.
3) Target for success –
Adwords now lets you target your advertising by nation, state and/or municipality. You may also opt for a stated radius. These features, which are the first steps towards the onset of local search, significantly boost click-through rates. If geography has any relevancy in your business plan, then localized tools are a must.
4) Mind CPC rates –
As part of your budget, your CPC rate is important. Keep it down. I know, I know, these rates being measured in cents don’t look like much, but they quickly add up to real cost, believe me. Adwords has introduced a policy of minimum keyword bids that many feel has made Adwords a more expensive place to advertise. Not so. It’s only made Adwords a slightly more difficult place to advertise because some advertisers subsequently bid too high. Be patient and find your place. It would be better to start too low, and not get enough clicks, than to start too high and burn advertising capital.
5) USD, that’s United States Dollars –
Where is your trade, is it the United States? Set your account up in dollars. If you’re doing business in Europe, set it up in Euros. More than a few people have had rude awakenings by not squaring their denominations with their geographic trade base. The transaction charges are steep.
6) Scrutinize click quality –
There is fear about click fraud in Adwords, legitimate fear. There are, for instance, unethical adversaries who will click your ad to cost you money. (Yet another reason to be nice to everyone you meet!) It is tough to prevent ethical lapses in other people, but if you feel your clicks are suspicious, contact Google immediately and stop running the ads.
The web developer clickbot farms are another issue of concern. These are the kind that are the most threatening, but can be defeated. They are simply websites designed to click your ads in order to steal your advertising money – nothing more and nothing less. If Google values their advertisers, they’ll continue to combat click fraud and, it stands to reason, eliminate it as the current scourge it is. They’ve accomplished bigger feats already and if they don’t, the competition will. Bank on it.
Be cautious and be thrifty when beginning Adwords. It’s a wonderful advertising tool that will not only help your business, but also give you a working, hands-on education, in a field that continues to grow with each passing day, search advertising.
