Adwords is one of Google’s advertising services.

Google is the largest search engine on the web receiving over 200 million queries each day through its various services. As Google is the most popular search engine today, webmasters are keen on having their websites achieve a higher ranking in the search engine results it provides. A high ranking can mean high traffic for that website. The search engine results page is also a great venue for advertisers to promote a product or service through ads and links. Consequently, Google launched its Adwords service, as a way for businesses to advertise products and services to a targeted audience. Google Adwords can guarantee instant traffic. In this service, Google displays relevant text based ads within its search engine results page termed as “Sponsored Links”. Whenever a particular keyword is searched on, these relevant links appear in a separate section giving excellent exposure to the sites listed.

Using Google Adwords? First, you have to open an account with the Google Adwords Service. Then, you should indicate your target language and country. This is important because you would not want your products advertised in countries where your product or service cannot be sold. Afterwards, you should now create an ad group. This involves designing the ad, selecting keywords and determining maximum cost per click that you are willing to spend and defining bid amounts. The most important step in creating a successful Adwords campaign is selecting an effective title tag that will catch the attention of your target audience for your new business online. The title tag, generally a short phrase, is the most important part of your Adwords campaign so make sure that it is attractive and catchy. You should describe the website clearly and accurately. There are keyword variations you can adapt to reach more prospects. Using these varieties, misspellings and derivatives can help increase the chance of your ads being served. Broad match is targeting keywords in a loosely defined manner. Here, the ads appear based on the keywords that have been queried by other users as opposed to exact match, which calls for the keyword to match the query exactly. Meanwhile, a keyword phrase set to phrase match will only appear when the exact phrase is searched on. A negative keyword is helpful in filtering unrelated pages.

When you have decided on what title tag to use in your ad, you must now define a budget in order to maximize exposure. Google Adwords recommend a daily budget for each campaign. However, you should determine a budget that is suitable and affordable. You should also determine the maximum cost per click. Google will offer a recommended cost per click, but you do not have to stick with this. Usually, a number one position is not ideal as it can also attract unwanted traffic and useless clicks. Google also added more features to the parameter handling in Webmaster Tools. Google is testing blue mouse over events in the search results and AdWords at the bottom of the search results. Yahoo is rumored to be looking to sell again, they even went offline for an hour yesterday and are closing the UK directory next month. Google had a great third quarter, at leaser fiscally. The recent introduction of the “Product Plus Box” for AdWords has meant that it has never been more important for advertisers to have a presence in as many different Google products as possible,
First The “Local Business Centre” Now “Google Base”
Recently, I reported in the AdWords Adviser how Google were using “Local Extensions” in their Local Business Centre and showed how that new feature can help you make your AdWords ads stand out more.
Soon, to get the maximum benefit from AdWords, you are going to need a Google Base account too.
Now I can almost hear your mind saying, what has Google’s free tool to encourage you to advertise your products on their Product Search Engine (Beta) got to do with paid search using AdWords?
Text Ads With Pictures
Imagine what it would be like if you could display a picture of your product right next to your ad!
Just suppose, for example, someone was to search on Google for a High School Musical lunch box for their child to take their packed lunch to school in. You’re an online retailer and happen to sell such a product. How much more powerful would your ad be if you could show a picture of that lunch box next to your ad?
A picture of the product that your prospects are looking to purchase next to your ad would give you a big advantage over the plain text ads from your competition.
Select Advertisers Already Testing
Most searchers already know how Google including shopping results in with the natural search results. And most will have seen a small, picture of the product you’re searching for next to the results link.
I discovered recently that Google are currently allowing a select number of advertisers in the USA to test the addition of a product plus box with their AdWords ads. They’re able to link an image from Google Base with an ad in AdWords to show a product image next to their ad on the results page.
Everyone wants their AdWords ads to have the maximum exposure available. It has therefore never been more important to get your online precence set up in as many different places within the Google network as possible.

1. Go to Google suggest:
2. The Google suggest tool will show you relevant results as you type in a search term. Try it and see what you get. For example if I type in ‘online dating’, the tool will return a list of other keyword related to ‘online dating’. However, the keywords are also shown in the order they are being searched.
3. Select the keyword which are relevant to what you are selling and put them into overture – and Overture will give you a few more related terms.
4. Add all of the relevant keywords to a separate Adgroup and create a new Ad for this specific Adgroup.

Google had established its supremacy amongst the ranks of search engines being the most preferred and most popular search engine on the web. I remember the instance when the son of a friend of mine refused to accept the information we gave him about Christmas, until he was convinced that the content had indeed been pulled off Google. In 2000, as Google won the race over the other search engine it was also involved in creating a program that would catapult its position as a viable advertising medium and generate more revenue. The initial advertising model that Google had developed was primarily for the use of big companies however, it later also developed the Google Adwords program which offers beneficial results to all companies, big and small.  Â

Google’s Adwords is a keyword targeted advertising program. The original Google Adwords program was discontinued because its basic idea was to pay per impression which did not guarantee traffic to the advertiser and was not so popular. With the overhauling that the Google Adwords received in 2002 changed all of that. Google’s Adwords is advertising model that works on the principle of pay per click advertising. It is keyword targeted which means that when a user searches for certain keywords that are related or present on your site then Google Adwords automatically display your site along with the results of the search in a column right next to the search results.

5 Quick Tips for Google AdWords

Many people get started in pay per click advertising through using Google AdWords. It’s a very powerful way to put ads out in a targeted manner, but it can also be a bit daunting. Here are 5 quick tips for Google AdWords.
Make more than one ad group. When just starting it’s tempting to put all the words you can imagine into one campaign, one ad group. This will be very ineffective for several reasons. You want to make sure you break your keywords into different ad groups. The best way is to have one word or phrase as a “theme”, then putting all keywords with that theme into a separate ad group. Google will like you more for this, since it shows that your ads (for these keywords) are a lot more targeted and people will tend to click on them more.
Make more than one ad for each ad group. If you make only one ad, you don’t have a grasp on how well it’s doing. When you have two or three ads you will at least then know which ad is performing better. This is A-B split testing and is highly recommended. Keep the ads that get a better click through rate, then revise the ad that didn’t perform as well. Try using words from your ad group, test out different ideas for the ads. If you keep only the best performing ads, your click through rate will consistently go up and you’ll get better results overall.
Use phrase and exact match keywords. A lot of people don’t even realize there are different types of keywords. This makes a huge difference. A phrase match keyword is one you put in double quotes, and indicates that you want to show your ad only for searches that have that exact phrase in it. It can have extra words before and/or after, but it will only show for search keywords that have that precise phrase. An exact match keyword is similar. It is one you put in square brackets (like [this]) and will show your ad just like the phrase match keyword, only for searches that have that exact keyword in it. However, with exact match it has to be exactly that keyword, no more words, no less words. This will make sure you know exactly what words your ads show for. The default is broad match keywords, which will show your ads for any queries with any of your words in any order and for words Google feels are similar to those words. It’s recommended you start testing with only phrase and exact, then expand to broad if you want to increase your impressions.
Turn off the content network. This is done in your campaign settings. The content network shows your ads on web sites, the search network shows ads next to search engine results. Having the content network active will get you a lot more impressions, but tend to get a lower click through rate. It’s better to focus just on search to start. If you do want to use the content network, it’s recommended that you put it up in a separate campaign. This way you can track each separately.
Use negative keywords. This is one of the best ways to cut down on clicks you don’t want. Look at your previous results for keywords that people have typed in. On the newest version of AdWords, you have the option to “See search terms…” inside each of your ad groups, for any date range you want before the immediately previous 36 hours or so. Here you can see all the words people have typed to see your ad, and which ones clicked on your ad. You’ll likely see a few words you don’t want to show your ad for. Put these into the negative keywords in your ad groups (or for the whole campaign). By doing this, these searches will no longer trigger your ad, and you’ll save money that you would have normally spent on people searching these terms when they clicked your ad.
If you follow these 5 tips, this help with Google AdWords will improve your click through rate and your results in addition to saving you a substantial amount of money. Taking care with the way you put your campaigns together can help you make a great ROI on your AdWords investment.
