There are several components that make up how site visitors view our content.
1. There’s the information itself–if we don’t do a good job of explaining why the product we’re selling is beneficial, our prospects will probably look elsewhere.
2. There’s the way our content appears on a landing page. When someone hits an obnoxious web page, complete with flashing lights and clanging bells, it’s not hard to guess how long they’ll stay!
3. Then there’s the art of placement. We must learn how to put each component of the landing page in the right place for maximum conversion power.
Let’s spend a few minutes looking at each of these variables.
Develop a Way with Words
Why should someone buy the product you’re selling? If you can’t answer that question, you definitely need to regroup! Read your current site content and make sure it lets your prospects know how purchasing the product can make them more money, improve their lives or make them happier.
The secret to writing that kind of content is in knowing the product well. How easy is it to use? How quickly can the buyer expect results? How much additional income can they expect to make? Answer those questions and you’ll hold your readers’ interest. If you can cite your own experience in testimonials, you’ll gain even more credibility.
If you’re not hitting your sales goals, try rewriting your landing page. Break the page into sections and create several versions of each. Mix and match sections and test each combination for conversions. It won’t take long to determine which writing style appeals to your target audience.
Make a Good First Impression
Have someone whose opinion you value go to your landing page. What’s their first impression when they arrive? If their feedback includes the words “noisy, distracting, or hard to read”, you’re due for a redesign!
An affiliate product website doesn’t need to be boring to sell products, but don’t swing to the other end of the spectrum, either. Spend a little time looking at websites you’ve purchased products from. Obviously, there was something about them that appealed to you. As with content, try new colors, fonts and graphics and test different versions of your landing page. You’ll know you’ve found the winning combination when you hit the right conversion ratio!
Everything in Its Place
It really is an art, discovering how people react to the placement of web page components such as contact forms, banners and videos. But that doesn’t mean the average affiliate marketer can’t learn to do it well. All it takes is the willingness to test, tweak, and test again until your target market begins to respond. Again, looking at successful competitors or people you purchase from online can give you clues.
Try putting banners at the bottom of the page. Place your free offer form in the right margin. Insert your video snippets at the beginning of your offer. Then start watching your site traffic and conversion rates. It’s a simple thing to move components around on a webpage. You can even create several versions of your landing page and test to different segments of your list. I think you’re going to be amazed at the results!
Learn to write solid content, or pay someone else to write it for you. Keep your website professional and easy to read. Commit to testing and tweaking until you find the most effective placement for components. Great rewards are in store!

Improve Quality Score and Increase Conversions Using AdWords Geographic Performance Reports

Google Adwords shows your ads more often in a geographic region based on the CTR (historical performance) of the ads in that region. Let’s say your ads had high CTR, when displayed in Vancouver than in Toronto. Google Adwords will display your ads more often in Vancouver than Toronto. So what?
Problem 1: Adwords doesn’t consider the conversion data when deciding to show your ads in different geographic regions. Let’s say your ads had higher number of conversions when displayed in Toronto. But the ads had poor CTR compared to the same ads when displayed in Vancouver. So your ads will be shown more often in Vancouver than in Toronto. So you will be losing conversions, revenues and incur more costs in acquiring new customers.
Solution: Geographic performance reports. Adwords Geographic performance report provides information about the country, Region, Metro and City where your ads were displayed. Also you have options to select and see the number of impressions, clicks, ctr, conversions, avg. cpc, cost etc.
Use the Geographic performance reports to determine which cities or regions you have more conversions but low CTR. You can try to analyze and determine the reasons for your ads having poor CTR. Try to improve the CTR by increasing the bid, changing the ad copies or target that specific region separately in its own campaign. This ensures that your ads are more often show in regions where you get conversions.
Problem 2: You are targeting Nationwide and getting more clicks from smaller towns than major cities. Ex. You get more clicks and visitors from Kamloops than Toronto. Toronto is the biggest metropolitan in Canada and it’s a huge market to be present. Let’s say you have determined that the Toronto region has potential for your product and the account has sufficient advertising budget allocated. Then one of the possibilities is that your ads are not getting enough exposure in Toronto.
Solution: Use Geographic Performance reports to determine whether your ads are getting enough exposure. Check if you have low number of impressions or whether the ads are showing in 2nd or 3rd page due to high competition. Check the bids to determine if they need to be increased, if the ad copies need to be changed and whether you want to target the region through a separate campaign. Use Google Adwords ad preview to determine the competition and the ad copy messages they are using. By taking necessary steps to improve the exposure of your ads, you can generate more conversions.
Conclusion: The benefit of this approach is it helps to improve your bottom line. Further Adwords uses the historical performance of your ads in specific geographic regions as one of the metrics to calculate quality score. Click here for more details

Bonus:
Your Geographic report data won’t match your actual search data, particularly for impressions. The reason given by Google Adwords is they won’t be able to track users coming from unidentifiable IP addresses. Further Google Adwords might consider not including impressions when it’s in negligible numbers. Also it has limitations in terms of computing the impressions from different geographic regions across multiple days.

Your CTR (Clcik-through-rate) is one of the most important statistics in your AdWords PPC account. Increasing CTR can improve your Quality Score, and therefore save you money.
You might be amongst the many that make the mistake of thinking that improving CTR is difficult. It therefore may shock you to discover that dramatic improvments can often be achieved very easily if you follow some simple guidelines.
What Is AdWords ctr?
In actual fact, there is no big secrest about CTR. It is very simple to work out: ctr = numberof clicks / number of impressions.
For example, imagine your ad has shown 100 times and was clicked on 4 times. Your click through rate for that ad would be 4/100 or 4%.
What most advertisers don’t appreciate, is that Google actually measures CTR in five different ways, and each can have a dramatic affect on your Quality Score.
5 Ways To Increase Your AdWords ctr
1) Keywords
Everybody knows that all AdWords keywords have a ctr. To increase the ctr for any keyword, you need more people to click on the ad your keyword triggers.
Ways to get your ad clicked on more often and increase your ctr include:
* Increeasing your bid price to make your ads appear higher on the results page.
* Writing ads that are more appealing to your audience.
2) Ads
Every ad in your campaign also has its own ctr value.
Ways to increase an ads ctr include:
* Adding more relevant keywords to the ad group so your ad is seen more often.
* Writing ads that are more appealing to your audience.
3) Campaign / Account
Many advertisers don’t realise that AdWords also measures the CTR for each of your campaigns and your account as a whole.
You can easily improve your account ctr by removing keywords that are not performing.
Consider this example:
Picture a campaign that regularly gets 1000 impressions a week and 50 click through’s. Your account ctr is 5% (50/1000) right!
Now, let’s suppose that half your keywords are poor performers. By this I mean that although they are clicked on let’s say 10 times a week, and get used in search queries, let’s say 350 times, they never convert. By deleting these keywords, the CTR for your campaign will change to 40/650 or 6.2%.
This represents a massive 1.2% increase in the ctr of your account and you are not loosing a single sale.
4) Domain Name
A lot of advertisers try and fix poor Quality Score by closing their account and opening a new one. Unfortunatly, most are shocked when this dramatic action makes absolutely no difference.
The harsh reality is that AdWords also tracks a CTR and bounce rate for your domain. Your landing pages therefore have to be releevant and fit in with Google’s advertising guidelines. Believe it or not, some very small changes to your landing pages can have a huge impact on your CTR.
5) The Historical Performance of keywords
The last characteristic for which Google record ctr is the historical performance of your keywords. Millions of peole are advertising using AdWords every day and they collectively bid on trillions of different keywords. This means that there are statistically, probably very few keywords that have not previously been tried by some advertiser some where are some time.
AdWords keeps a detailed track of the CTR that others have achieved and this will have a big influence on your own CTR if you should choose to also target that keyword.
It is therefore best if you concentrate your campaign efforts mostly on keywords that are frequently searched on.
Last Thoughts On ctr
Improving AdWords CTR doesn’t have to be difficult, but to provide the maximum benefit to your Quality Score, you need to increase it in all five areas that Google measures.
