It can be, if you (or your online marketing vendor) understands the numerous tricks to get your ads ranked higher and noticed by your best prospects. For those who want to boost sales by improving their online lead generation skills, here are the top 10 useful tips for Google AdWords.

There should be a viable online market for what you do before you start. You can go to google.com/trends and type in keywords that you believe encompass your business. If the trend is going downhill you may want to rethink your online business model.

Once you know that you have a target audience, you need to figure out what they are searching for (keywords). You can use the keyword tool in AdWords to see what keywords are most popular and which ones attract the most traffic. Another helpful site is www.askhowie.com/freewords. This site shows you what the top keywords are in that market.

Put someone in charge of your AdWords campaign. If there are too many people working on these campaigns, you won’t be able to see what trends are happening because they will be changed too often without notice. There is a lot to know about AdWords so it’s best to put someone in charge that will spend time researching and implementing a cohesive strategy.

You also cannot offer Free downloads or 50% off of a product if that information is not available on the landing site. And of course, the trick of all tricks, having something like Paris Hilton Pics as your headline will not work. Not only will you get into trouble with Google, you will be paying for clicks and no one will be taking action on your Web site. These practices could have your ad placed at the end of the sponsored list or not shown at all.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. If your ad is doing well, it doesn’t mean that you should only do one campaign. If your ad is doing poorly, don’t give up. It takes a lot of time and patience to make an AdWords campaign work. The key is to switch things up until you hit the sweet spot. You’ll never know what really works until you try a little bit of everything.

One of the first reasons a potential client/customer visits a website is to legitimate the business. They want to know that the person they are potentially doing business with are really in business. Think about it, in most cases they learned about your business indirectly through advertisement of some sort whether it be mail, internet or word of mouth. Therefore, they must examine the legitimacy of your business more closely. Once the potential client visits your website and sees you are a business that really exists, there are several questions they will seek to answer on your Services webpage. They will look at:

1.   Presentation – This page should talk about the different services you offer. However, this webpage is not meant for a hard sell. It is simply meant to offer an opportunity for the customer to familiarize themselves with your business and the benefits of the services you offer. You will present the features of your product/service in the catalog or on a separate page (the customer will click to demonstrating heightened interest).

2.   Organization – It should be presented in an organized manner. For example, like services should be grouped together and categorized.

3.   Categorization – Your services should be divided into categories that have clear and logical qualities that naturally group them together. Each category should include a description of the category that helps the customer understand the logical grouping of the items within the category.

4.   Descriptions – each product/service will have a brief description that will include that will sell them on the benefits of that product. A link to the item in your catalog or to the item’s own webpage should be included here as well.

5.   Catalog – The catalog is where you present all of the wonderful features of each product including any specifications or special variations of the services.

Your potential customer will seek ease of shopping. If your services are not presented in a clear and concise manner that can be easily navigated, the customer will more than likely shop or do business somewhere else. Present a professional and well-organized website. Keep in mind the higher the quality of your website, the higher the quality of the customer you will attract and retain. A high quality customer will not go to a low quality website and do business.

I read an article this week and then heard mention of something on the news as well. One of the most popular search engines has been criticized for censoring and not giving people certain answers, particularly when it comes to political questions and things of that nature.

What search engine to you use more frequently?
